Our Family-Favorite Sweet Potato Casserole
Sweet potato casserole has been a staple on our Thanksgiving table for as long as I can remember. It’s my sister’s absolute favorite, so we make it every year just for her. And even my husband Peter, who isn’t a fan of marshmallows or overly sweet dishes, seems to love this one.
Though it might sound like dessert, we serve it right alongside the savory sides, and it fits perfectly. While the original recipe calls for mini marshmallows, I prefer jumbo marshmallows—they create a thicker, fluffier layer on top of the sweet potatoes. I bake it until the marshmallows are a light, golden brown—don’t wait too long, or they’ll get too toasty!

Sweet potatoes?! Marshmallows?! Now combine them together and you have one incredibly tasty dish! As seen in the recipe, the kicker here is the inclusion of Jumbo Marshmallows as opposed to the mini ones! It’s a slightly thicker and fluffier layer on top than what would be provided by the mini ones and it’s just BETTER! It works so phenomenally well with this dish that I think whenever you start making it with jumbo marshmallows, there’s just no way you can ever go back to having the mini ones! This was definitely a favorite and the entire dish was completely gone but the end of the day!
